It’s October and it’s time for the girls’ annual Halloween party. This year, they begged to have a witch themed slumber party. So I put together a “bewitching” party that included a mesmerizing tabletop, the most ghoulish, I mean delicious, food buffet, an ‘I Scream’ bar, witches brew (for the moms) and monster punch for the kids, a spelltastic nail bar and more! Keep scrolling for details around all the decor, food and fun.
My initial inspiration for this party stemmed from Meri Meri’s ‘Making Magic’ line of paper goods. I knew I wanted to incorporate some of their whimsical party items. I came up with a color scheme of purple, black and orange and started researching fun foil balloons. My search led me to the amazing Halloween party decor at Gatherings by CP. I knew I wanted to include their foil balloons including witch hats, a black cat, a witch and black bat. They also carried the honeycomb witches hats from Meri Meri that I knew I wanted to include. Other items that went into the decor were the Meri Meri Making Magic garland on the buffet, the cutout haunted house in the center of my table and the black hanging bats that hung over the buffet.
Buffet
For the buffet I sourced my decorations from a number of different places. I started with this amazing spider web paper runner from Hester & Cook and built out from there. I’ll share more about the actual food I included later, but let’s talk about the decorations. I found these Martha Stewart black pre-lit trees with hanging bats from Homegoods. Then I offset them with the adorable ghost taper candlesticks from Gatherings by CP. My black ravens were sourced from Kirklands. The little tins for the popcorn were a Target bullseye find. I used Hester & Cook paper insects to write out the names of each food on the buffet. I found the cutest witch acrylic sticks to stir the adults witches brew that I made. I personalized coasters that said “boo” and a black and white marble cheese tray that said “boo crew” from Mark & Graham. And our “I Scream” bar used little plastic cauldrons from Target for all the ice cream amenities.
Food & Drink
The specialty drinks that I made for the party were a children’s bubbling green “potion” and a adults-only witches brew. The witches brew was an easy combination of ginger ale, cranberry juice, apple juice and vodka. I took the drinks up a notch by adding black sugar around the rims, spider ice cubes and the cutest acrylic sticks with witch icons. The spider ice cubes were super easy to make. I cleaned plastic spider rings and then put them into old school ice cube trays with filtered water. I let them freeze overnight and viola! The easiest spider ice cubes. For the bubbling green potion I combined pineapple juice, ginger ale and green sherbert. The sherbert and ginger ale “bubble” when mixed. For the green colors I just added a few drops of food coloring. I added in some eye gummy candies into the potion as a special treat.

Activities
We had a number of activities for the girls to choose from. Before dinner we had a nail bar and someone painting nails and putting on nail stickers for the girls. After dinner, the girls got cozy in the family room, had hot cocoa in these adorable witch cauldrons and we turned on Hocus Pocus. I had fun Halloween charms and beads for the girls to make their own witch bracelets and necklaces.
Party Favors
For the party favors, I started with the Meri Meri magic potion bags from the collection that inspired this whole party. I found little witch hat headbands and child-friendly ‘spell’ books on Amazon, the cutest bat wands from Sweet Wink and stickers, temporary tattoos and nail stickers from Jollity Co. I printed these witch gift tags from Anchored Mama Designs on Etsy.
This was a Halloween party for the books! The girls and their friends had the most ‘spelltastic’ time and the moms and I had a blast drinking witches brew and hanging out, too.
