My girls have loved makeup and nail polish since they were little. They’ve loved dressing up and playing make believe, wearing princess shoes and tiaras and brushing each other’s hair. And while I wasn’t totally on board for letting them venture into the world of makeup and nail polish, I felt more at ease once I did my research. In today’s world, there are so many non-toxic and kid safe options that didn’t exist when I was growing up. I am sharing a few of my favorites below and would love to hear about your recommendations in the comments.
- Klee Naturals: I love Klee Natural’s kits because they each have a cute, unique theme (including seasonal themes around Christmas, etc.) and they often include makeup and nail polish.
2. Evereden: Evereden has products other than makeup, but I love these ‘play pencils’ that allow children to get creative and basically face paint designs or color onto their face for pretend play. It washes off easily and is good for sensitive skin as well.
3. Petite N’ Pretty: This non-toxic beauty brand focuses on the core tween demographic. Above is their Tween gift set with press on nails, eye shadow, lip gloss, etc. They have a wide variety of products and the kits are marketed well for this age group. They also offer these online classes and tutorials for girls to learn how to apply makeup correctly. I actually thought this was a great idea because often kids this age don’t want advice from their parents, but need help learning how to do something correctly.
4. Prim and Pure: This mother-owner non-toxic beauty line won’t break the bank. That way if an eye shadow, or two, or three go missing then you won’t be too upset replacing them.
5. ella + milla: This non-toxic nail polish company has an array of shades and it has good staying power. I painted the girls nails with it one weekend and it lasted all week even with two times playing in the salt water pool. I love this 10 color starter pack as a fun gift.
6. Piggy Paint: I feel like Piggy Paint might be the OG of the kid friendly, non-toxic nail polish trend. They have a ton of different colors that come in their small fun piggy bottles.
7. Little Lady Products: These are my favorite nail polishes for kids! Non-toxic and safe, sparkly with fun names and lots of colors AND each polish comes with a cute kid sized bow ring that they can take off and wear!
