Bluey Theme and Color Scheme
When Katie told me she wanted a Bluey theme for her 6th birthday party, I loved the idea. Bluey is one of our favorite TV shows as a family. And I’m guessing if you have kids around that age, it’s one of yours, too! However, I’d seen a lot of harsh blue and orange color schemes for kids’ parties on the internet and I knew I didn’t want to be pigeonholed to those two colors. I decided to start my research (as I always do) by looking at party invitations. I found one that featured a pastel rainbow array of flowers and daises that Katie loved. That’s when I knew I would go with a similar pastel color scheme for the party (and of course heavy on the BLUE!)
Piccolina Cotton Candy & Popsicles
Katie’s other request was that we have a cotton candy stand during the party. I didn’t want to rent one of those old, ugly cotton candy makers that many rental companies have, so I did my research. Piccolina is a local Orlando, woman-owned small business that offers aesthetically pleasing setups for cotton candy creations, popsicles and hotdogs. We went with the cotton candy and popsicles. Maria, the owner, was able to create custom stickers and signage based on the party invitation I shared with her. Her decorations matched our pastel rainbow color scheme as well and she even got Bluey plushes to decorate the stands! The girls absolutely loved the cotton candy and popsicles (and so did the adults). Katie told me she had FOUR cotton candies during the party! Not sure I’ll win any Mom awards for nutrition, but I might for party planning!
Buffet, Decorations & Food
I turned to Sweet Lulu for the buffet decorations and paper goods. First, I sourced this Hester& Cook blue gingham table runner which is preppy and blue! Then I found the cutest shimmery blue fringe garland from Meri Meri. I just loved these cerulean blue paper plates and checkered napkins and I paired them with these Target Bluey appetizer plates and cocktail napkins. All of my printable signage I found on Etsy. My blue tinted wine glasses were sourced from Amazon. I also got blue checkered deli paper and Bluey stickers from Amazon which I used to re-wrap Publix catering subs.I combined Hawaiian blue punch with Sprite to make a kid-friendly Bluey punch and then froze dog shaped ice cubes to make it even more Bluey-tastic! The kids were able to drink their punch from the custom Bluey plastic cups and straws I got. Easiest food item I got was the Bluey themed fruit snack which the kids loved. I sprinkled the cutest blue dog prints and bones confetti I got from Etsy all over the table to add a little more fun.
Party Gift Bags
I wanted to give each guest a fun party gift bag full of Bluey items. I started by sourcing these adorable small jelly baskets from Amazon. Each bag included a small Bluey plush (either Bluey or Bingo), a Bluey headband from Target, a mini blue Teleties 3-pack, a Bluey sticker page, Bluey fruit snacks and blue Ring Pops and a Bluey figurine. I got thin blue gingham ribbon and tied on these adorable ‘thank you’ gift tags from Etsy.
Additional Details
We always use local balloon artist, Balloon Babe, for our balloon arches and decor. Her team did an amazing job bringing this to life for us with a massive arch in the kitchen featuring Bluey and Bingo foil balloons from Party City and her signature multi-size balloons with a pastel rainbow and daisies. Our cakes always come from Valhalla Bakery in Orlando. They’re vegan and I can tell you 100% vegan cake is the moistest, most delicious cake ever. I worked with Little Happies for Katie’s hand-made Bluey cake topper. The girls pretty flower dresses are from Hanna Andersson and my dress is from The Hermoza.
This Bluey party was one for the books! Katie and all her friends had such a fun time and the cotton candy and popsicle carts were an absolute hit. Now, it’s on to our next birthday in June! Can’t wait to share what I’ve got planned for that with you soon.
