Emma turned eight this year. Cue the waterworks over here. She debated between a Taylor Swift and a spa themed birthday party with the spa theme winning by a hair (pun intended). We held the party at local facial spa Clean Your Dirty Face. Each birthday guest received a scaled down facial (no extractions obviously!) I also had two Drybar technicians to do braided dry styles for the girls. When I started sourcing ideas for the party, I knew I needed to pick a color scheme as a starting point. I usually find one central item for the party that I can use as a sourcing inspiration focal point. For this party, I knew when I saw Jollity & Co.’s Sweet Dreams spa slumber party themed paper tabletop items that I wanted to use the pastel colors and fun illustrations as a focal point. With Emma’s request for a “tie dye” color scheme, I decided to focus more on a pastel rainbow color scheme.
Tabletop & Picnic Setup
Originally, we’d planned on utilizing a beautiful outside area in the back of Clean Your Dirty Face’s location that overlooked a local lake for our party setup. I worked with The Picnic Drop (a local Orlando vendor) for the picnic setup. While we didn’t get to setup outside or use their beautiful tasseled umbrella (thanks, Florida rain!), we made do and setup in the front entrance of the spa. The picnic setup on the ground with pillows and poufs gave the party a relaxed and fun vibe.
For the tabletop settings, I used Jollity & Co. pink checkered dinner plates, the Sweet Dreams collection paper plates and napkins and pink and white striped paper cups that I sourced locally from Paper Goat Post. I used white and gold plastic silverware from Sophistiplate (also sourced from Paper Goat Post) and these adorable sleep mask paper napkins from Pooka Party. I found some pretty paper rainbow confetti on Amazon that I sprinkled on the tables for additional color. For flowers, I only used pink and white flowers and used some simple glass bud vases and my favorite woven Two’s Company bud vases for each table. The place cards were custom watercolor prints from a great Zazzle shop called Scriptiva and I also used her invitations and 5×8 cards for the buffet and drinks. The final touch was placing each girl’s party favor makeup bag from Mark & Graham at each place. The bags were full of fun goodies (read on to learn more) and had the girls’ initials monogrammed on them in these adorable varsity letter patches.
Decorations
Our decorations all played off the spa theme and pastel rainbow color scheme. I started with two balloon garlands to pretty up the sterile spa space. We’ve used Balloon Babe for years and she never disappoints. She put together a gorgeous pastel rainbow garland with these awesome irridescent spiky stars and tie dye balloons for the space by our drinks.
We also used local party gurus Paper Goat Post and their enormous billie balloons as well as a rainbow garland in the space where the DryBar stylists were working. The crowning touch was the the bright pink Moke from Moke of Orlando parked outside the store festooned with party balloons to greet the guests as they walked in. The girls even got to sit inside for the photos and beep the horn (Emma was so surprised it actually worked!)
Food & Drinks
Because I wasn’t hosting this party at our house, I tried to keep the custom food and drinks to a minimum. I worked with Grounding Roots to offer three simple fresh-pressed organic juice options for the girls. We went with lemonade, lavender lemonade and blue-biotic for the kids options. I also used their jala-pina juice to whip up a spicy margarita for the adults (I even got rainbow salt to go with the party theme). The girls’ juices were transferred the night before to these fun emoji drink pouches with brightly colored straws. Because Emma isn’t a huge cake fan, we made sure to serve everyone with an individual Kelly’s ice cream as well as our favorite Valhala cake (it’s vegan!)
Party Favors & Additional Details
I got the girls’ personalized makeup pouches from Mark & Graham with these cute varsity letter patches with their initials on them. Each pouch contained a few fun items including a spa headband, Little Lady nail polish in all different colors (each polish comes with a ring), Teleties hair ties in a rainbow of hues, Jollity Co. pouch stickers and nail stickers and a fuzzy tie-dye sleep mask, Both of the girls’ dresses were from Lola & The Boys. Here’s Katie’s sequin dress and Emma’s and here’s Emma’s metallic ombre dress. As always, if there’s something you saw in my content on Instagram or here in pictures that you have a question on, don’t hesitate to leave a comment and I’ll get back to you!
