When I asked Emma what she wanted for her 7th birthday party theme, she originally said, “WITCHES!” Haha! Luckily, I convinced her that a witches theme was better suited for a Halloween party and we ended up with a pool cabana theme. With a pink and coral color scheme and flamingo and palm leaf motifs, I knew this was going to be a fun one to plan!
Decorations
Knowing that most of the party was going to revolve around our pool, the first thing I bought was fun pool floats. I found these extra large flamingo floats on Amazon and fun palm tree leaf floats from Funboy. Next, I knew I wanted to invest in a beautiful balloon arch for the interior decor in the kitchen since people were going to be eating and mingling there. I used local balloon artist, The Balloon Babe, and sent her over some inspiration and let her do her thing! I just love how she spray painted palm leaves pink and gold and sprinkled them throughout the arch.
The girls wanted matching bathing suits that fit the theme, so I found these Hanna Andersson flamingo bikinis that went perfectly with our flamingo motif!
So let’s talk about the food and interior decor. I typically go to Trader Joe’s and get a bunch of fresh fruit, veggies and things to cook like appetizers and burgers/hotdogs instead of splurging on catering. For me, I’d rather make sure we have a ton of food, kid beverages AND adult beverages than fancy food. For an adult party, I’d likely go with catering and a bar.
I found a fun Hester & Cook paper cabana striped runner to put down on our kitchen counter for the buffet. I found matching cabana striped paper cups, napkins and paper plates from Meri Meri, as well as palm leaf plates and green wrapped hurricanes from Michaels. I put popcorn in some cabana striped popcorn boxes I found on Amazon.
I got pink and green M&Ms and little acrylic scoops from Amazon so the kids could serve themselves M&Ms. I got monogrammed and personalized plastic cups, paper coasters and napkins from Mark & Graham which paired perfectly with my pink acrylic wine bucket.
Another few details that I loved were these flamingo toothpicks that I found on Amazon and this rattan flamingo basket that I found at Homegoods!
For additional thematic decor, I found a felt garland with palm leaves and flamingos on Amazon and a cutout glitter garland from Etsy.
Outside by the Pool
No pool party is complete without cabana striped towels so everyone can dry off in comfort! I had these monogrammed towels made from Mark & Graham with Emma’s initials and a palm tree.
Cake (and Ice Cream)
For every birthday party in our house, we order a delicious home made vegan cake from Valhalla Bakery. I had ordered a 10″ cake with an ombre pink and green frosting and buttercream filling and then Emma told me, “I don’t want cake, I want ice cream.” Well, I knew from past parties that our Valhalla cake is always a hit, so I kept my order, but decided to splurge with two Kelly’s Ice Cream party packs. This comes with 20 individual Kelly’s servings of ice cream and we went with mint chocolate chip, vanilla, strawberry and cake batter and sprinkles for our flavors (all our favorites!) I glammed up our cake with some flamingo pink and green sprinkles from Amazon and Meri Meri flamingo cupcake decorations.
We needed some additional entertainment outside of the pool, so I got Onsite Spa and Parties to come and give the kids manicures and pedicures by the pool.
Party Favors
Finally, we made sure everyone left with a fun pool cabana themed beach basket! I started with these trending jelly baskets from Walmart. I added a pink striped cabana towel, pink and green kids sunglasses and a fun flamingo themed sensory playdoh kit from Tinkerbox Sensory to each basket. Each basket came with a personalized gift tag from Zazzle thanking our friends for celebrating with us!
